This morning I am drinking Black Currant, a yummy flavored black tea with just the right amount of “fruitiness”.
Composition: Chinese Black tea flavored with Black Currant
Visual: Dark brown almost black with few light brown leaves to tease the eyes.
Dry Aroma: Very aromatic! This tea has a strong berry scent.
Flavor: Full bodied and fruity. Naturally sweet, yet not overpowering, I like to add a dab of sugar or honey to enhance the sweetness.
Liquor: Dark brown with a plum colored hue.
Brewing Time: 5 minutes
Manufacturer: Harney & Sons Fine Teas
Special Note: One tea bag makes two cups of tea. This tea makes an excellent iced tea.
What is a Black Currant?
Black currants are from a European perennial currant (Ribes nigrum
) bearing aromatic edible black berries that are used especially in flavoring liqueur (Merriam-Webster Dictionary). The fruit has a high natural Vitamin C content. Black currants have a very sweet, sharp taste and are often made into jelly, jams, juice, and ice cream. Black currants should never
be confused with the Zante currant
, a type of grape
which is often dried, as they are not from the same plant species.
