I borrowed a picture from Tavalon Teas as I have yet to take my own picture of this new tea. Considering it is Thursday, I wanted to stay on top of my posting about all of the great new teas I have been enjoying this week. While on vacation, I was excited to receive notification from the house-sitter that my new teas from Tavalon Tea had arrived. All week, I had one singular purpose… to brew, taste and review Lemongreen.
Composition: Green tea and lemongrass – hence the name.
Dry Visual:A mixture of dark and light green. Many individuals with whom I shared Lemongreen have commented that it resembles fresh cut grass. I must concur!
Dry Aroma:The smell of lemons is definitely pervasive. There is a slight vegetal undertone.
Flavor:Unexpectedly delicious. I didn’t know what to expect from this mixture of lemongrass and green tea. The green tea was robust, not vegetal and the lemongrass added a delightful zestiness. It is not common for me to add lemon to my tea, thus I was unsure if the addition of lemongrass would be enjoyable. I tasted both with and without sweetener – Lemongrass is tasty either way.
Liquor: A beautiful green hue.
Brewing Time:Recommended brewing time is 3 minutes, I think I brewed for about 4 minutes.
Manufacturer: Tavalon Tea
Caffeine: Yes.
Special Note: What is Lemon Grass or Lemongrass?
The scientific name is Cymbopogon. It is a genus of about 55 species of tall perennial grasses, native to warm temperature and tropical regions of the Old World and Oceania. Common names include lemon grass, lemongrass, barbed wire grass, silky heads, citronella grass, fever grass, or Hierba Luisa amongst many others. Lemon grass is commonly used in teas, soups, and curries. It is often used as a tea in African and Latino-American countries.
The next time your reach for a refreshing cup of green tea, reach for Lemongreen. I think I’m going to have a cup right now. Until then… Happy Tea Drinking!

This is actually one of my favorite green tea blends out there. I find that the lemongrass adds a natural sweetness eliminating the need for additional sweeteners. I’ve been buying from Tavalon since they first opened in 2006, they’re so creative… I’m glad you find them as well!

Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Lemongreen is my first Tavalon Tea. I too am glad to be in on the little secret. I just enjoyed another one of their tea blends today – Serenity. I’ll try to post a review tomorrow. I think I may enjoy green tea blends more than plain green tea. Currently my favorite has been Genmaicha.
I do so want to try this tea. I was browsing the Tavalon online store and found these:

I will be ordering these along with the lemongreen on my next order with Tavalon.
bookoftea,
I just clicked the link you provided… Green tea latte almonds!!! I don’t know what to think. Who knew they made such a thing.
You’ll have to let me know if you purchase them. I want all the details…
They have amazing tea treats. My favorite is their White Tea Pomegranate Tea Gummy Bears http://www.tavalon.com/Store/ProductDetails.aspx?CollId=286. The only bad part is that they only sell in 4oz tins. I called them last week to increase their offering sizes because 4oz is not enough!
